Weatherbeeta is an Australian brand that built a reputation on integrated neck covers. Their ComFiTec Mesh Essential line is the sheet you see in most US fly sheet comparisons. Here is how the Weatherbeeta stack up against the Hilason ADFS line on the specs that matter.
| Spec | Hilason ADFS | Weatherbeeta ComFiTec Mesh Essential |
| Mesh | 600D poly/nylon body, 1200D reinforced shoulders | Lightweight mesh, no reinforced panels |
| UV protection | UPF 50+ (98% block) | 90%+ (model-dependent, not always certified) |
| Neck cover | Removable, included on ADFS-NF ($72) | Integrated, sewn-in (most models) |
| Sizes | 7 (66 to 84 inches) | Broad, including pony and draft |
| Fit engineering | Quarter-horse cut, gusset shoulders | Standard cut, multiple size options |
| Starting price | $59.95 | $60 to $90 (without neck) / $90 to $130 (with neck) |
| Designed for | US ranch conditions | Australian conditions |
This is the defining difference. Weatherbeeta's signature feature is the integrated neck cover, sewn to the sheet as a single panel. The advantage is a cleaner look and slightly better security. The disadvantage is that if the neck cover tears, you replace the whole sheet.
The Hilason ADFS-NF has a removable neck cover that attaches with heavy-duty velcro and a poll buckle. The advantage is replaceability. The disadvantage is that the velcro can wear out over time and need replacement (about $10 for a new velcro strip).
If you specifically want an integrated neck cover and you do not mind paying the Weatherbeeta premium, the ComFiTec Mesh Essential is a clean solution. If you want the flexibility to remove the neck cover for cooling on cooler days, the Hilason ADFS-NF is the better answer.
The Weatherbeeta mesh is designed for Australian conditions, which are generally less brutal than US southern summers. The mesh is lighter, which means more airflow and less heat retention. In a temperate climate, this is a real advantage. In Texas, the difference is overwhelmed by ambient heat.
The Hilason ADFS is designed for US ranch conditions, including 24/7 turnout in southern heat. The mesh is heavier, which means more UV block and more durability. In Texas, the Hilason is the better-engineered choice for the conditions.
The Hilason ADFS is UPF 50+ certified (98% UV block). The Weatherbeeta ComFiTec Mesh Essential is in the 90%+ range on most models, but the certification is inconsistent. Some model years specify UPF 50+, others do not. If you are buying a Weatherbeeta, check the specific model spec sheet.
For UV-sensitive horses, the Hilason is the more reliable choice. The UPF 50+ certification is on every Hilason spec sheet. The Weatherbeeta certification depends on the model and year.
The Weatherbeeta has a broader size matrix, including pony sizes and draft sizes. If you have a non-standard build (small pony, draft, draft cross), the Weatherbeeta is the better-fitting sheet.
The Hilason comes in 7 sizes (66 to 84 inches) cut for a quarter horse. Standard-sized horses fit out of the box. Non-standard builds may need to be sized up or down.

Choose Weatherbeeta ComFiTec Mesh Essential when:
Is the Weatherbeeta mesh cooler? Marginally. The Australian mesh is lighter, which means more airflow. In a Texas summer, this difference is overwhelmed by ambient temperature. In a temperate climate, the difference matters more.
Can I remove the Weatherbeeta integrated neck cover? No. It is sewn in. If you want the option to remove the neck cover on cooler days, the Hilason ADFS-NF is the better answer.
Does the Hilason ADFS-NF stay on as well as the integrated Weatherbeeta? The Hilason attaches with velcro and a poll buckle. In our testing, it stays on a horse that does not deliberately try to remove it. A horse that strips sheets will strip either one. The difference is in the replacement cost if the neck cover tears.
Is the Weatherbeeta worth the extra money? For a horse that needs the integrated neck cover and the broader size matrix, yes. For a standard quarter horse in a hot climate, no. The Hilason is the better-engineered and better-priced sheet for that use case.
Which brand is more popular in the US? Weatherbeeta has broader retail distribution, especially through online catalogs. Hilason has stronger direct-to-consumer and western market presence. Both are well-known in the equestrian world.
